<p>Cardiovascular diseases have become a real scourge of our time. And, as it turned out, the new coronavirus COVID-19 can aggravate the situation.</p>
<p><a  href="https://www.mayoclinic.org/?_ga=2.205637397.74478475.1586531557-2139953885.1586531557" rel="external nofollow">Mayo Medical Education and Scientific Research Foundation specialists said</a> that a decrease in cardiac function is observed with a severe course of the disease. In some patients, these changes are the result of an inflammatory reaction, while in others they occur due to the occurrence of a COVID-19 focus in the heart muscle.</p>
<p>According to the researchers, the infected have two problems associated with the work of the <a href="https://jcheart.ibsi-us.com/tachycardia-causes-symptoms-treatments/">cardiovascular system</a>: heart failure and arrhythmia, which can be caused by side effects of drugs taken to treat coronavirus infection.</p>
<p>An initial study revealed heart damage in 1 out of every 5 patients, leading to heart failure and death, even among those who have no signs of respiratory failure, American doctors say.</p>
<p>This can change the attitude of doctors and hospitals towards patients, especially in the early stages of the disease. It can also open a second front in the fight against the <a  href="https://www.undp.org/content/undp/en/home/coronavirus.html" rel="external nofollow">COVID-19 pandemic</a>, with the need to take new precautions in people with pre-existing heart problems, new equipment requirements and, ultimately, new treatment plans.</p>
<p>The question of whether the emerging <a href="https://jcheart.ibsi-us.com/5-unusual-signs-that-you-may-have-heart-disease/">problems with the heart</a> is caused by the virus itself or is a by-product of the body&#8217;s response to it has become one of the most important factors faced by doctors seeking to understand the new disease. Determining how the virus affects the heart is partly difficult because a serious illness in itself can affect heart health.</p>
<p>Many cardiologists believe that COVID-19 infection can cause <a href="https://jcheart.ibsi-us.com/what-is-the-real-cause-of-heart-disease/">heart damage</a> in four or five ways. Some patients, they said, can be affected by more than one of these pathways simultaneously.</p>
<p>Despite the growing number of patients, doctors continue to collect data, summarize trends and publish their results in almost real-time. Cardiologists in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut share the latest information on COVID-19 through the WhatsApp group, which has at least 150 members. And even though New York <a  href="https://www.businessinsider.com/nyc-hospitals-are-filled-with-coronavirus-patients-shortages-loom-2020-4" rel="external nofollow">hospitals operate in crisis conditions</a>, doctors are testing new drugs and treatments to ensure that something they learn about coronavirus can be disseminated elsewhere with scientific certainty.</p>
<p>This work has already led to changes in how hospitals deal with the cardiac effects of COVID-19. Doctors have discovered that an infection can mimic a <a href="https://jcheart.ibsi-us.com/what-is-a-heat-stroke-symptoms-signs-treatment/">heart attack</a>.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Those who sit for 9-10 hours per day (which is the majority of office workers) are at risk for diabetes and heart problems. And the risk is almost not reduced, even if you play sports. Scientists came to such conclusions.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Stillness has long been associated with <a href="https://jcheart.ibsi-us.com/coronary-heart-disease-causes-symptoms-prevention/">heart failure</a>. With this disease, the heart gradually weakens and cannot pump the necessary amount of blood. As a result, not enough oxygen enters the cells.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">To understand how a sedentary lifestyle is associated with heart disease, cardiologists at the University of Texas Medical Center examined <a  href="https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/full/10.1161/circulationaha.117.029493" rel="external nofollow">troponin</a> proteins. This is a marker of myocardial damage: for example, a huge amount of troponins is released into the blood during a heart attack.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Even a slightly elevated level of these proteins is a concern for cardiologists if it does not go down for a long time. A chronically elevated level signals damage to the heart muscle. If you do nothing, heart failure may develop.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Scientists have analyzed the results of a large <a  href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4374096/" rel="external nofollow">cardiological study</a>. They examined cardiograms, blood tests, and physical activity trackers from over 1,700 healthy participants. Particular attention was paid to the level of troponins in the blood and the readings of activity trackers.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It turned out that many participants spend more than 10 hours sitting a day and rarely play sports. Basically, their physical activity is limited to walking. They also noted elevated levels of troponins. Of course, it was much lower than with a <a href="https://jcheart.ibsi-us.com/what-is-a-heat-stroke-symptoms-signs-treatment/">heart attack</a>, but nevertheless, this signals hidden damage to the myocardium.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Researchers checked other factors that could affect troponin levels: age, gender, body mass index, and a heart condition. But the relationship with a fixed lifestyle was most pronounced.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Scientists can not yet explain how exactly a sedentary lifestyle harms the muscle cells of the heart. According to the head of the study, cardiologist James de Lemos, it affects the heart indirectly. “<a  href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?term=22281252" rel="external nofollow">Stillness</a> is associated with obesity, diabetes, and fat deposition on the heart. All of this can lead to damage to the heart muscle,” he says.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Moreover, it is important not only to sit less but also to move more. Although there was no significant effect of sports on troponins, de Lemos advised moving as much as possible. Get up and down the stairs, leave the car at the far edge of the parking lot, hold meetings while standing or in the motion.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A person who works in an office <a href="https://jcheart.ibsi-us.com/how-to-stay-healthy-if-you-sit-at-a-computer-all-day/">needs to</a>: walk at least 2 hours a day; every hour during the working day, get up from the table and do a 3-5-minute warm-up (squats, rotation of the body, sipping); conduct cardio training (in the absence of contraindications) 3-4 times a week.</span></p>

<p>For the prevention of IHD, dancing, walking, swimming and any aerobic exercise will help.</p>
<p><strong>Quit smoking</strong></p>
<p><a target="_blank" rel="noopener external nofollow" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atherosclerosis">Atherosclerosis</a> develops in most cases due to smoking. Smoking causes coronary thrombosis in people under 50 years of age. The harm of smoking is proven and leads to the development of deadly diseases.</p>

<p>The fact is that a loving spouse can make you take better care of yourself, scientists suggested, presenting the results of the study at a conference of the British Society of Cardiovascular Diseases.</p>
<p>Dr. Paul Carter and his colleagues who prepared the study, have previously stated that marriage increases the chances of survival in a <a href="https://jcheart.ibsi-us.com/preventing-heart-attacks-chiropractors/">heart attack</a>. Their new work explains with what it can be connected.</p>
<p>They suggest that marriage helps protect a person from exposure to such risk factors as high cholesterol, high blood pressure or diabetes.</p>
<p>The study involved nearly a million Britons who had these <a href="https://jcheart.ibsi-us.com/category/health/">health problems</a>.</p>
<p>The researchers found that the chances of women and men aged about 50, 60 and 70 years with high cholesterol to live to the end of the 14-year study were 16% higher if they were married.</p>
<p>The same principle worked for those who suffered from diabetes and high blood pressure.</p>
<p>The results for those who <a target="_blank" rel="noopener external nofollow" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cohabitation">cohabited</a>, divorced, or widowed, were not as clear.</p>
<p>The researchers did not consider whether the marriage of the participants in the study was <a href="https://jcheart.ibsi-us.com/why-is-it-harder-to-lose-weight-as-you-get-older/">happy</a>, but they suspect that it is not so much the fact of marriage as important that the presence of a close person is important.</p>
<p>&#8220;Apparently, there is something in the marriage that protects not only people with heart disease, but also those who have risk factors,&#8221; Carter said.</p>
<p>&#8220;We do not say that everyone needs to get married urgently, we need to reproduce the positive effect of marriage and use friends, family and social support services in the same way,&#8221; he said.</p>
<p>&#8220;Whether you are married or not, if you have one of the main risks for heart disease, you can ask your relatives to help you cope with them,&#8221; agrees Mike Napton of the British Foundation for Cardiovascular Disease.</p>
